The Pink Unicorn

March 5 - 7, 2021

By Elise Forier Edie

The Pink Unicorn is “a comedy about gender identity and big hair!”, which tells the story of Trisha, a Christian widow, living in a conservative Texas town, whose life is thrown into turmoil when her teenaged child announces they are “gender queer” and starting a chapter of the Gay and Straight Alliance at the local high school. Trisha recounts her story about facing a crisis she never saw coming, at a time when transgender people and gender issues weren’t even on her radar.

CONTENT ADVISORY: The Pink Unicorn follows one mother’s journey to accept her genderqueer teenager. In telling this story, this play contains multiple instances of transphobia and misgendering as well as ableist and fatphobic language.

This program is supported by the City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs.
